 Background

Ms. Herrmann was raised in southern California and attended the University of Southern California as a piano performance major in the resident honors program at the age of 16.  In her junior year she transferred to Indiana University to study with the world-renown pianist, Jorge Bolet.

Her earliest concert tour, at the age of 16, took her to Scandinavia and Russia, where she performed in Helsinki, Stockholm and St. Petersburg.  As a 20 year old, she competed in the Busoni International Piano Competition and shortly thereafter returned to the northwest for her orchestral debut with the Bellingham Symphony Orchestra, playing Rachmaninov’s “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini” – a performance termed “flawless” by one reviewer.  Shortly thereafter she performed Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" with both the Brermerton Symphony and the Thalia Symphony.

Married at the age of 21, Ms. Herrmann settled in Seattle and began teaching and performing actively.  An accomplished chamber musician, Ms. Herrmann founded the Linden Piano Quartet whose performance in the Artists’ International Competition earned them an invitation to perform at Carnegie Recital Hall.  Some of her most enjoyable performances have been playing with other fine musicians.  In 1994 she joined the keyboard faculty at the University of Washington where she remained for six years.   She now teaches a full studio of young pianists and performs on the rare occasion when she is asked to play something she can’t resist, which most recently included performances of Brahms’ Piano Concerti No.’s 1 and 2 with the Eastside Symphony.
